Thereafter, Vineeth made a presentation on “Brands & Branding”, which is one of the three core subjects of the Creative Management programme—the other 2 being “Ideation & Creative Expression” and “New Media”.
Participants debated on various topics such as Brands, Ideas, Consumers, Needs, Brand Value, Brand Equity, Brand Relevance etc., with valuable inputs from Profs. Amrith, Balasubramanian.
Later, Prof. Lakshminarayanan spoke on Brand Salience and the contemporary trends in today’s branding environment such as Ownership v/s Stewardship, Swarms, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), The Impact of Technology, Media, Glocal Strategies of Brands, and the Shift in the Buying Decision Process etc.
To everyone’s delight, a surprise visit was paid by Mr. Ashwin Ajila, the Founder & Managing Director of i-Nurture, to the conference. The participants had the rare opportunity of hearing about the company, its vision & mission, the business model, opportunities & challenges lying ahead, the changing roles of the faculty in the wake of the emerging classroom delivery models — from the Founder Director himself. Ashwin also informed of the signing of MoUs with more than ten of the prestigious universities and colleges in India, which is an indication of the immense growth opportunities that one can leverage upon by being associated with the i-Nurture brand. His informative session concluded with a detailed talk on career pathing, rewards & recognition programmes, and the open door policy being followed at i-Nurture.
The post lunch session was conducted by Prof. Amrith on various aspects of effective teaching methodologies such as Body Language, Tone, Subject Knowledge, and Soft-Skills. DAY 2:
The day began with Lakshmi speaking about the newly introduced Faculty Training & Development Programme and its importance in the changing education sector. She emphasized the importance of training, skill assessment, competency mapping, performance monitoring and professional development of the faculty.
Then followed Prof. Ramesh Ramanathan’s session on “Ideation & Creative Expression” (which is the second core subject of the Creative Management programme) with refreshing examples and cases picked from various streams of knowledge such as Arts, History, Science, Design, Technology, Astronomy, Natural Sciences, Philosophy, and Brands.
These helped the team look at brands and ideas with a fresh perspective. The session ended with the audience left to debate on the topic, “Can brands be one’s friends?”
The second half of the day was spent in recording digital lectures (15 minutes each) on various topics. While the faculty were experts in classroom lecturing, recording lectures in front of a video camera was a new experience for them. However, they quickly got into the groove and were able to record at least two lectures each for the day.
Somebody spoke on ‘Creativity’ on that day. Can you guess who !?
DAY 3:
Prof. Lakshminarayanan started off the final day with his presentation on the topic “New Media”, which is the third core subject of the Creative Management programme. He provided deep insights into the impact of the Internet, the 3Cs of Digital Evolution (Communication, Commerce, and Community), YouTube, Facebook, Brand and User Interface, Instant Gratification, e-Commerce, SoLoMo, Gamification, and many others, with interesting examples chosen from relevant areas and his own experience.
The session included discussions on the latest trends in the media world across the globe & their impact on brand building.
Prof. Lakshminarayanan cited over a dozen websites and blogs that the team should be checking on a regular basis, to stay abreast of the latest developments in the media industry, and the world in general.
Prof. Lakshminarayanan leaves no head unturned!
Then Prof. Amrith discussed his observations on the previous day’s digital lectures. With his customized comments for each faculty, the team of faculty were off to record more digital lectures as the final part of the training process.
SUMMARY:
The Faculty Training & Development programme at i-Nurture turned out to be a memorable one which witnessed the confluence of cultures, knowledge, expertise, and the exchange of ideas. It also provided plenty of opportunities for the participants to both learn and contribute.
The training sessions also allowed the recording of digital lectures by the faculty in studio. In the space of two days, their lectures on 24 different topics (spanning more than 6 hours) were recorded.
The programme was organized and managed end-to-end by the Faculty Training & Development team comprising Ms. Lakshmi who was ably assisted by Swaroop. A special thanks to both of them for making the entire event possible!
