Reforming the Indian Education system

Our Indian Education system needs serious reforms and changes. India needs reforms from elementary itself. The ideal choice of learning is memorizing facts. Here to judge the student’s talent has only one factor i.e. percentage in board examination. So students just mug up and undeniably Indian education is spoon feeding.

There is no hands-on knowledge in our Education system. Our Education system mainly emphasizes on theoretical knowledge. Some basic theoretical knowledge is required however our Education system focuses more on the theoretical knowledge. The Indian education and social arrangements are very inflexible on kids and completely ignore their feelings, thoughts and ambitions. Kids are pressed to study from the age of 3. Non-performers are treated as dunces and detested by parents and society. My view is this, our education must be all round developer. It must be based on creative rather than memorizing. Practical or Visualize education must be promoted.

In India we say IIT’s and IIM’s are the best institutions. To obtain admissions in these institutions one has to do lot of hard work all throughout days and nights. Those who acquire admissions in these institutions, it’s a blessing to them.

But if we consider the global level, where do these institutions positioned??

According to ‘The Times Higher Education’ only two institutions in India are among the top 200 universities. They are IIT-Delhi at 154^th rank and IIT-Bombay at 174^th rank. No other universities from India, while in United States, there are 58 universities in that gradient and Harvard University at the top most. In UK, there are 29 universities, in china there are 8 and in Japan there are 9 universities.

India Reforming Its Education to Grow Into ‘Developed’ Status From ‘Developing’.

Even with having the desire and skills, thousands of students in the country were not able to persevere higher education. Only 15 per cent of the students in the country have access to higher education. This situation must change. The State and Central governments must work towards making the higher education accessible to all.

The varsities were overburdened with the scheduling of examinations, evaluation and publication of results. This needs a transformation. The universities muststart more research, publish research papers and bring in more innovative technologies.

According to a global study conducted in 74 countries, India was ranked 73^rdin terms of quality of education, while China grew to the top spot. We need to do more to enhance the quality of our school education.

Educational technology inventions also bring risks, however. Achieving the assurance of technology entails more than simply deploying devices. If initiatives emphasis too much on technology and not enough on compelling usages that enhance learning and teaching, the results will be unsatisfactory. Transformative initiatives result from complete efforts that bring about variations in professional learning, curricular planning, assessment and evaluation, policy frameworks, and more. Below par planned initiatives can lead to misuseof time and money, broaden inequity, expose private data, decrease sureness in the Education system, and delay the potential advantages. Even elegant initiatives can fall apart if they depend on a sole charismatic leader who moves on, or if funding evaporates.

Technology has to be a primary part of the process. Technology allows us to adapt to teaching and assessment of entirely new skills that are very significant for the 21st century and that you cannot progress in a kind of traditional setting. But technology has to work through teachers. Technology can leverage prodigious teaching extremely. But great technology doesn’t replace poor teaching. The challenge is to convey technology into the depiction in ways that translate into good teaching and learning. This necessitates refined public policy, a long-term commitment, and a systematic approach.

Thus, it is high time that we take certain steps instantaneously so that not only the level of education is improved which will enhance an individual’s knowledge but also it will in turn lead to the upliftment of the country that we really need and certainly India will become one of the preeminent in terms of education and soon it will be a developed nation. Hence, it can be rightly said that Indian Education system requires serious reforms.
