Bangalore, 15 – 19 June, 2015
The first ever iNurture Gurukul national faculty development programme was organized at Bangalore between the 15th and 19th of June, 2015. It was aimed at aligning the faculty with the idea of a ‘re-imagined’ learning experience, commensurate with the new-age trends in higher education.
Day 1 – Monday, 15th June, 2015
iNurture Gurukul 2015 got-off to an exciting start with an address by Ashwin Ajila, Founder & Managing Director of iNurture Education Solutions. During his brief but intense speech, Ashwin took the audience down the memory line, highlighting the increasing acceptance of the unique University-Industry (UIP) Model of iNurture, the tremendous growth of the organization over the years, especially the past couple of them and about the unwavering support that the organization received from its investors.
Ashwin particularly emphasized the critical role that the faculty plays in making it possible to deliver a truly new-age learning experience to the students and enabling them to be career-ready upon graduation.
Ashwin also briefly outlined the future vision of iNurture and the career growth that the faculty can look forward to.
This was followed by a very interesting and engaging session by R. Lakshminarayanan, Chief Learning Officer at iNurture who set the context for the training programme. R. Lakshminarayanan begun by creating an instant rapport with the audience by conducting a ‘BINGO’ game, in his inimitable style, which got the audience to shed their inhibitions, interact and get to know each other, in a very short period of time.
R. Lakshminarayanan went ahead to reveal the punch-line for the iNurture Gurukul initiative – “Listen I Learn I Lead”. He also spoke about new goal-settings and road-map for iNurture. He highlighted the increasing acceptance of the iNurture UIP model reflected in the new partner sign-ups across India, including the prestigious PPP partnership with KINFRA at Trivandrum, Kerala.
The next session was on ‘Industry & Curriculum by Anupama Hedge, Mentor – Mobile Applications at iNurture, that followed after a short coffee break. Anupama Hedge elucidated how iNurture curriculum is Industry oriented and how our curriculum and took up the example of the IT team’s initiatives to be on-par with current industry requirements.
The next session by Mathew Anthony, Academic Head, Marketing Leadership & Innovation at iNurture, was on Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in India and how to make interactive classes and give credits for it. Mathew Anthony spoke about the merits of CBCS system including how it helps students pursue higher studies abroad without any hassles. He highlighted the need for a common world-wide credit system.
The last session for the day was on ‘Key trends in Education’ by R. Lakshminarayanan, who felt that as per the key trends in today’s higher education, the role of a teacher has evolved from ‘a sage on the stage’ to ‘a guide by the side’. He reminded the faculty that the focus has shifted from ‘teaching’ to ‘learning’. “It’s a ‘dialogue’ and no more a ‘monologue’. It’s all about ‘doing’ and not about ‘knowing’. Its no more about ‘theory’….its about ‘application’”, said R. Lakshminarayanan. The increasing role of technology has to be factored in. He also highlighted the key trends such as ‘factory model to individual profiles’ and the criticality of ‘asking the right questions’ in place of ‘knowing all the answers’.
Day 2 – Tuesday, 16th June, 2015
The second day had two very exciting demonstration sessions on the new-age technology tools in education, one by Samsung and another one by Impartus Innovations, apart from a very interesting session on ‘Changing Learner Environment’ by Shradha Kanwar, Head – Learning & Development at iNurture.
Shradha Kanwar, the first speaker for the day, showed the attendees a new path to the future learning methodologies and various techniques such as MOOCs, Blended Learning, On-line education, Flipped Classrooms etc. She also spoke about the different understanding capability of the students and the methods to make them active.
Samsung Demo was held under technology device category and the IT department faculty came up with lot of query and suggestions on how to make the application more effective.
Impartus Innovations gave us the demo on how Reverse Lecture Capture is an effective system and how it will help in making the classroom lecture delivery more effective by enabling self and superior review of sessions by faculty.
Day 3 – Wednesday, 17th June, 2015
On the Third Day, the focus was on how to build a well-knit team which can withstand various pulls and pressures of today’s environment.
Pramod Idiculla, CEO – Enterprise Learning Solutions at iNurture and Usha Rani, National Placement Head at iNurture, helped in arranging four professionals from corporate as guest-speakers, who addressed the audience and held a panel discussion on “Current Industry needs from students and educationists”.

Day 4 – Thursday, 18th June, 2015
The fourth day was a break-out day during which individual vertical teams, lead by the respective vertical heads, spent time together on discussions and presentations pertaining to individual verticals.
Day 5 – Friday, 19th June, 2015
The Fifth day begun with the academic heads de-briefing about the break-out sessions by the respective faculty teams. Post lunch, groups of faculties discussed key current topics such as ‘How to better “connect” with today’s students?’, ‘Impact of CBCS’, ‘Tablet & Education Solutions’, ‘Reverse Lecture Capture’ and ‘Industry & iNurture synergy’.
Day 6 – Saturday, 20th June, 2015
On the 6th and last day of the programme, the different groups which discussed the 5 topics on Friday, made presentations on the topics.
The iNurture Gurukul 2015 concluded with a visit to the swanky new corporate office of iNurture Education Solutions at Vasanthnagar, Bangalore, located opposite the prestigious Mount Carmel College.
The iNurture Gurukul 2015 FDP was attended by over fifty faculty members from various verticals and partner institutions across India.
