Time Management Tips for 12th Board Examination Preparation

The 12^th grade board examination phase is usually serious and tense with thousands of young hearts apprehensive of the exam questions, results and ranks. Obtaining higher grades in the exam requires a considerate amount of hard and smart work. But the most important element of board examination preparation is applying proper time management skills.

Following are some of the important time management tips to be well-prepared for the 12^th board exam:

• Every day, set small targets and make sure you achieve them by the end of the day

Most students tend to look at the complete course material and start panicking because of the enormous syllabus. It is very important to break the overall syllabus into smaller sections and sub-sections and then make targets to complete each section on a particular day. Small goals should be set each day

• Focus on 1 chapter at a time
• Be well versed with all the terms, concepts, important aspects, formulas (if any), numerical(s) (if any) of that chapter
• Revise, Revise and Revise!
• It’s okay if you don’t know everything from the syllabus, but don’t forget what you have already studied

• Prioritize the chapters, topics, sections, course materials, etc. on the basis of weightage

This is the basic essence of studying smartly. There is no use in working hard for hours together if you have missed the 20% of the syllabus that is likely to carry 80% weightage.

• Finish off those chapters or sections first which carry more weightage in the exam.

• Study at the time most convenient and don’t forget to take study breaks

Be aware of when you study best—whether it is early morning, late afternoon or at night.

• Make sure you follow your own study routine properly.
• Don’t study continuously.
• Take small breaks when required—ideally, at least every one hour. During the break, watch TV for a few minutes, listen to your favorite songs, or talk to your family members or friends.
• Do not skip meals because of the exam pressure

Procrastination is considered to be the biggest problem pertaining to exam preparation. Once you set your own targets, try hard to accomplish it rather than leaving a part of the scheduled course material to be completed tomorrow. There is nothing magical about tomorrow. If you procrastinate today, you will avoid completing the part of study tomorrow as well and this will go on.
